Going Beyond Mobile. Augmented Reality is coming. Virtual Reality will take entertainment minutes away. Over the next decade we will look at our smartphone screens less and less as we use things like Magic Leap more and more. In this eye-opening keynote you will: - Discover the companies that are bringing futuristic technologies to you today, including those in airports, football stadiums, and shopping malls - Demystify cloud - We will discuss how cloud is everywhere in this new world and the trends that are soon to be hitting us, whether in self driving cars or augmented reality glasses - Learn what your business can do now to keep up and ahead of these coming trends.

Robert Scoble is a Futurist at UploadVR. As entrepreneur in residence at Upload VR, formerly Rackspace's Futurist, Scoble travels the world looking for what's happening on the bleeding edge of technology and brings that learning to Facebook and other places like his newsletter and blog.

He's interviewed thousands of executives and technology innovators around the world and co-authored "The Age of Context" and “Naked Conversations” with Shel Israel, and they are working on a third named “Beyond Mobile” expected to be published November 2016.

Hear his fascinating speak about how Virtual and Augmented reality can revolutionize surgical education and training, particularly for developing countries. After centuries of training surgeons in crowded operating theatres, Ahmed thinks that virtual and augmented reality can be used to train tens of thousands of students simultaneously. Shafi Ahmed and his team performed the first VR surgery back in April 2016, live streamed and 100% free of charge.

Shafi is colorectal cancer surgeon at The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s hospitals. Associate Dean at Barts and the London Medical School. In 2015 awarded the Silver Scalpel award as the best national trainer in surgery by the Association of Surgeons in Training. He has been elected a member of council for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and sits on a number of advisory panels for government.

Medical Realities is an innovative group offering medical training products, specializing in virtual reality, augmented reality and serious games. By using consumer-level virtual reality devices such as the Oculus Rift, Medical Realities can reduce the cost of training, reach a wider audience & provide a completely safe learning environment for medical students.

http://www.medicalrealities.com/

Virtual reality technologies have existed for more than half a century. Knowing their development as well as understanding the human senses and their interactions facilitate the creation of meaningful simulated experiences. In the Multisensory experience lab at Aalborg University Copenhagen for the past ten years we have been exploring the possibilities and limitations of the senses using technologies to simulate visual audio and touch. We are interested in applications of virtual reality that have a benefit to society, such as bringing people to places where they cannot physically go, rehabilitation of people with disabilities and use of virtual reality for training and exercise.

Rolf Nordahl is Associate professor in media technology at Aalborg University and co-director of the multi sensory experience lab together with Stefania Serafin.

His PhD thesis defended in 2010 explored presence in interactive virtual environments.

He has been involved in several European projects including the EU funded project Natural Interactive Walking, exploring how to allow to experience VR by real walking.

His interest in VR started in 2005 when he was involved in the EU funded project BENOGO (being there without going), where visually and sonic scenes were captured in real places, and delivered thought head mounted displays.

His research lies within presence and interaction in VR, cinematic VR and evaluation techniques for VR.

Next Gen Input Modalities in VR/AR. Today, user input in VR is mainly driven by head position tracking and handheld pointing devices. Question is, if these controls are the most intuitive way for a user to interact in VR/AR if such experiences are ever to become truly ‘immersive’? In this talk, Anders Bo Pedersen will present some of the ‘next generation’ VR/AR input controls currently in the works globally. He will give a detailed presentation of eye tracking in VR and discuss how this technology combined with other emerging VR/AR technologies is part of a truly multimodal virtual experience. Lastly, he’ll give his view on what the next generation of VR/AR devices might bring in regards to user control.

Anders works with emerging technologies and explore their role in immersive digital experiences.
